Ernesto Neto @ the Armory

RUN, don't walk, to the Ernesto Neto show at the Armory, up through early June. The multisensory experience is about wonder, delight, all those silly emotions you don't experience too much once bills, mortgages, kids and all that other stuff start getting in the way.

Checked it out this past Sunday with Dr. Todd Florio after a good bike ride up the west side to the Little Red Lighthouse. A damn good afternoon.

Tilda and Peter

From our Popcorn shoot with Tilda Swinton the other day. She was in New York promoting her new movie, "Julia".

Do Not Feed the Birds

The sign says it all. The bride, groom and the college friends goofing off.

Sunrise and Sand

From the morning sunrise shot with Phil Nelson down in Bald Head Island this weekend. The orginal exposure was a little dark in the foreground, so I used the graduated filter tool in lightroom to bring it up a bit. The sky and sun are as shot.

The Rings

Jeff and Margo, groom and bride. From the series of shots down on the beach in Bald Head Island this weekend. Margo was incredibly stunning in her dress. Jeff was classy and serene in his suit.

Kinda tough lighting conditions as the sun was blasting us full on in the faces, so needed the flash to prevent them from being washed out.

I've put up a series of photos from the wedding on Facebook already. There will be more coming, along with a book. Ain't this fun?

The Groom and his men

At the end of the wedding, Jeff, Drew and John decided it'd be a good idea to jump into the pool, fully clothed. Well, almost full clothed. As you can see, Drew and John both removed their pants. Or trousers as the say in Britland.

Sunrise

Woke up at 5am to shoot some sunrise pics with Phil Nelson, another guest at the wedding here (full disclosure: He's a far better photographer than me). This is one of my favorites. We're on Bald Head Island for Margo and Jeff's wedding, two awesome folks. Bald Head Island is a little like Fire Island... no cars, no hassle, no rush, except it's probably about a million dollars richer per person.

Sunglasses and Model

Title really says it all, doesn't it?

From the photoshoot.

Again, if you like either the dress (or maybe the shades too), you can pick them up here.

From the fasion shoot...

This is Rachael Pease, an artist based in Brooklyn, and the model for the photo shoot I did today. There'll be more coming in this space in the coming days, but here's a teaser.

You can buy this dress here.

An Horse @ Cooper Square Hotel

Kate Cooper is one half of the band An Horse a semi-broody but unbelievably nice duo from Australia (Brisbane to be precise). They met up with us for an Amplified shoot at the Cooper Square Hotel yesterday. This shot's from the morning.

Tilted Astor Place

A few years back I was really into the whole tilt shift fakery thing. You know, take a photo, do some photoshop stuff to it to make it look like it's kinda like a toy model. Today I found myself at the penthouse of a building at 5th st and Cooper Square, with a 360 degree view of the surroundings. The photo here is of Astor Place, with that good ol' tilt shiftery added. More photos from that shoot coming.

Nuclear Yellow

This was an overexposed shot of my friends Jonathan and Julia from a journey to Roosevelt Island. A little messing with the levels and this is the result. I think it works.

The Teichers

This is a photo from Passover dinner with the Teicher Clan. See GF Carrie on the right. Every holiday, or gathering of the family, they take the same photo, with the three of them on the rug, lying down. I took this photo about fifteen times. In this one, I did some photoshoppery, some lightroomery to try for a grainy, old photo look.

First entry

Trying this blog thing for photo use. We'll see how it goes. Will I like it? Will it like me? Do either of these questions even matter?
